We would also like to thank everyone who participated in our December Hometown Holiday celebration in downtown Lemont. A special thanks goes out to all the volunteers and staff that made the event possible and thank you to all the families that attended!

During this winter season, we remind residents to take it slow on the roadways and take extra caution on days where temperatures fall significantly below freezing.  Please ensure you are signed up for crucial electronic updates during this winter season. These notices will be sent through our Stay Informed, LEMA and Public Safety notifications - http://www.lemont.il.us/list.aspx.

Rose Yates

Passing of Rose Yates

We are sadden by the loss of our dear friend and Village retiree, Rose Yates. Many are at a loss without her, as her volunteerism in several organizations and activities was great. We will pay a special tribute to Rose at our January 23 Village Board Meeting which begins at 7:00 p.m. The meetings are live streamed and housed on YouTube and also live on Comcast Channel 6 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. We can never say enough good things about this extraordinary lady who truly loved this town.

Village Board Meeting Summary

All supporting documents for the December 12 Village Board Meeting and January 5 Committee of the Whole are located on the Village website. The next Village Board Meeting will be held on January 23 at 7:00 pm. Village Board Meetings are generally held the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month and are live streamed and available on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=village+of+lemont

  • The Village Board approved several ordinances related to the annual tax levy for the upcoming year. The tax levy has increased by 2.7%, with the majority of the increase due to the capturing of new growth from development in the community.

  • The Village Board approved several financial ordinances relating to the abatement of its municipal bond levies. The Village has issued debt in the past for infrastructure projects, and the Board has routinely approved the abatement of the tax levy to pay the bonds, opting to utilize its existing revenue streams to pay said bonds.

  • The Board held a public hearing for the establishment of the Main/Archer Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District. The reconfiguration of the existing TIF at Route 83 and Main and creation of a new TIF will increase the marketability of the Village owned properties at the corner of IL Route 83 and Main. The ordinances formally establishing the TIF District will be presented for approval at the January 23 Village Board Meeting.

  • The Board held a public hearing on the proposed intergovernmental planning and boundary line agreement extension with the City of Lockport. The Village Board thereafter approved the agreement.

  • The Village Board approved a resolution authorizing a construction contract for the repair of the Derby Road Bridge. The project will commence in the spring.

  • At the January 5 Committee of the Whole Meeting, the Village Board discussed the following items:
    1. A planned unit development (PUD) and annexation agreement amendment for Timberline Knolls was discussed. Timberline Knolls is applying for the amendments to their existing agreements due to an expansion of their facility.
    2. A planned unit development (PUD) and final plat amendment for the Old Town Square development on Talcott Street in the downtown.
    3. State of Illinois/Village of Lemont financial conditions, proposed capital equipment and capital projects for Fiscal year 2018.
    4. Proposed organizational changes.
    5. Electronic and other hazardous waste recycling proposed program through Waste Management.

Village Budget
