How do I make a request for public information?
Residents and businesses wishing to review Village documents can file a Request for Public Information Form with the Village Clerk. All requests for information are processed in accordance with the requirements of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

The Village contracts with Waste Management to handle its waste collection. You can contact Waste Management at (800) 796-9696.

Do I need a building permit?
Most projects do require a building permit to ensure compliance with building codes and zoning regulations. Some minor projects such as painting and basic maintenance may not require permits. If there is any question or doubt, please contact the Building Department at (630) 257-1580.

Can I apply for a permit and do the work myself?
Yes, if you (the homeowner) have lived in the residence for longer than six months and sign a homeowners agreement that you will be performing the work yourself without a contractor. If you have not lived at the residence for longer than six months, then you must register as a contractor with the Village of Lemont.

How do I register as a contractor with the Village of Lemont?
You must complete the Contractor License Application form and include the license fee ($75 for subcontractors and $200 for general contractors). You must also provide insurance, bond, and workers compensation.

What are constructions work hours
Construction work hours are Monday thru Friday from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday hours are 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.

How do I schedule an inspection
Ispections are scheduled on a first come first serve basis and must be requested 24 hours in advance. Inspections must be called in between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:00 pm. To schedule an inspection call the Building Department at (630) 257-1580

When are inspections performed
Building inspections are performed Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Plumbing inspections are performed Monday thru Friday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Electrical inspections are performed from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Can I park my boat or camper at my residence?
By Ordinance a boat,camper or trailer may only be stored at a residence if located in a garage or other fully enclosed structure that substantially conceals them from public view. A boat, camper or trailer may be parked at a residence for the purpose of loading or unloading for no more than 8 consecutive hours or 12 hours in a 24 hour period.

Where can I pay my water bill?
Payments can be made at the Village Hall 418 Main Street. You can leave a payment in the drop box located in the vestibule next to the Village Hall, or you can sign up for direct debit at Village Hall.

Do I need to purchase a vehicle sticker?
Every owner or operator of a motor vehicle (cars, trucks, motorcycles, and trailers) who resides within the Village or whose motor vehicle is based within the Village must obtain a Lemont vehicle sticker. New residents must purchase a sticker within 30 days of moving into the Village. Call (630) 257-1550 for more information.

Residents and other interested parties may check the zoning on a particular piece of property by checking the Village's Zoning Map.

Where can I find the Lemont Zoning Ordinance?
In 2008 Lemont consolidated its zoning and subdivision ordinances into the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). The UDO includes all zoning standards, including those for signs.

How I can find out if my property is in a flood hazard zone?
FEMA has made its flood hazard maps available on-line. Clicking on the link below will take you to FEMA's interactive map. The legend on the right hand side of the map shows the symbols used to identify the different flood hazard areas.

Can I conduct a business from my home?

What are the local curfew hours?
For persons less than 13 years of age, curfew is 9:00 pm on any day of the week. For persons at least 13 years of age, but not yet 17 years of age, curfew is between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am on Sunday through Thursday and between 12:00 midnight and 6:00 am on Saturday and Sunday. For persons 17 years or older, there is no curfew.

Do I need a animal license for my pet?
It is unlawful for any person to own or keep a dog or cat within the corporate limits of the Village unless they procure a license through the Village.
3.
Can I park my business vehicle at my residence?
Trucks and commercial vehicles with C-Z plates shall not be permitted to park or to be stored in a residential area, except when located in a garage. A limit of one commercial vehicle with a B plate shall be permitted to be parked on a residential lot.

What is the hardness of my water?
In the raw state the hardness is 20 grains (340 mg/l). But the Village of Lemont softens 90% of the water that is put into the distribution system, which brings the hardness down to about between 4 or 5 grains (68 to 85 mg/l).

Do we have city water (Lake Michigan)?
No. The Village of Lemont uses 4 deep wells and 1 shallow well to provide the water to your homes and businesses.
