The Code Enforcement Division of the Lemont Building Department is responsible for enforcing the Village Municipal Codes, the Village Unified Development Ordinance, as well as the adopted Building and Property Maintenance Codes.  These duties include; monitoring construction sites for erosion control compliance, checking contractors working in the Village for license compliance, checking job sites for proper permits, fielding resident complaints, assisting the Building Department with daily inspections, conducting property maintenance inspections, and much more.

The Village has seen an increase in resident complaints from hiring unqualified contractors to perform home repairs or services.  Before you hire a contractor, please check with the Lemont Building Department or Code Enforcement to make sure the contractor is licensed, bonded and insured.  If they are not, let them know that to do any work in the Village they must be licensed.  It is also recommended to check the Better Business Bureau and other information sites for contractor feedback and recommendations.  Protect your investment from unqualified and unlicensed contractors.

Contractors caught working without a license will be issued a citation and will not be allowed to continue work until licensing requirements have been met.
