Electrical Aggregation

UPDATE August 2014

Electric Aggregation
An Opportunity to Seek Lower Electric Bills

The Village's Electrical Aggregation Program with FirstEnergy Solutions will expire in October.  The 17 municipalities of the Will County Aggregation Group (WEAG), which includes Lemont, have selected Homefield Energy as the new electric supplier for these communities.  This is a renewal of the current WEAG program that began in 2012 and has saved residents over $25.5 million to date.  The WEAG communities represent just over 323,000 residents.  These communities consist of:

Beecher            Bolingbrook       Braidwood          Channahon           Coal City           Crete
Elwood              Frankfort            Homer Glen        Lemont                  Lockport           Peotone
Plainfield          Rockdale             Romeoville         Shorewood           Woodridge

The WEAG negotiated a 36 month rate that averages $.06950/kWh ($.06996/kWh for the first 24 months and $.06850 for months 24-36) on behalf of its residents and small businesses.  When compared to the Commonwealth Edison rate of $.0742 / kWh this represents a 6.5% savings on the supply of electricity.  Additionally, there is no early termination fees associated with this program.

In the month of August, eligible residential and small businesses customers will receive a notice from the Village of Lemont and Homefield Energy which will state the offer and provide instructions for opting-out of the program.  This includes residents currently enrolled in the Village's plan with FirstEnergy Solutions.  Customers wishing to participate in the program will not need to take any action to be included.  Customers who desire to opt-out will be able to do so during the 21-day period following postmark of the notice.  Once the 21-day period has passed, you will automatically be enrolled in the program.

Residents and small businesses may receive solicitations from other suppliers over the next few weeks to switch their account.  If a notice is not explicitly marked as being from The Village of Lemont, Homefield Energy, or Commonwealth Edison, customers should assume it is not connected to the Village's electrical aggregation program.

For any questions, please contact the Village of Lemont, Administration Department, at 630-257-1590.

ATTENTION: Residents currently with a different supplier (other than ComEd or are NOT with the Village's FirstEnergy Solutions Program):

Residents that have a supplier other than ComEd or with the FirstEnergy Village program will receive an informational letter informing you that the Village has chosen Homefield Energy as our suppler.  You will NOT have the automatic option to be included in the Village program. Those wishing to participate in the Village's program should first contact their supplier to find out if you are subject to any termination fees.  If you then decide to participate in the Village's program, contact Homefield Energy and they will assist you.
