UTILITY PAYMENTS IN CASH

Due to the national penny shortage, the Village of Lemont has implemented a rounding method for CASH utility payments when pennies are unavailable. Effective immediately:

• All cash transactions will be rounded up to the nearest nickel.
• The small overage collected from rounding will be applied directly to your account as a credit.
• This ensures that no resident pays more than the actual amount owed over time.

For example, if the amount due is $5.11, a cash payment of $5.15 will be required. The full $5.15 will be applied to the account and $0.04 credit will appear on the next billing statement.

Payments made by check, credit/debit card, or online will continue to be processed at the exact billed amount.
