From locally owned eateries and specialty retailers to year-round festivals and community gatherings, downtown Lemont continues to grow as a destination for residents and visitors alike.

Sustaining Downtown Momentum

Downtown Lemont has experienced strong momentum in recent years, driven by local entrepreneurs, community events, and continued public investment. As downtown continues to evolve, the Village of Lemont is working with business owners, property owners, and residents to identify priorities and ensure the district remains vibrant for years to come.

What We Heard: Downtown Survey Results

In 2025, the Village of Lemont conducted a Downtown Priorities and Planning Survey in partnership with Teska Associates to better understand community priorities and opportunities for the future of downtown.

The survey received 71 responses from business owners, property owners, residents, and other downtown stakeholders, providing valuable insight into how the community experiences and values Downtown Lemont.

Key Findings

•  77% of respondents rated Village services supporting downtown as Good or Excellent
• 69% said the Village has been supportive of downtown businesses and initiatives\
• Top priorities identified included parking convenience, maintenance and cleanliness, and support for small businesses

The survey also explored interest in strengthening downtown coordination and engagement through potential partnerships, volunteer leadership, and future organizational models.

Looking Ahead

Based on the survey results and additional research into successful downtown districts across Illinois, the Village is exploring ways to strengthen coordination, support local businesses, and continue investing in the downtown experience.

This work includes evaluating organizational structures, potential partnerships, and funding strategies that can help sustain downtown’s momentum while maintaining the unique character that makes Lemont special.
