Art & Culture Commission: The Village Art and Culture Commission's charge is to promote the artistic and cultural life of the village through the initiation, evaluation, selection, creation, and promotion of visual arts (sculpture, murals) and performing arts (music, dance) projects. Such projects not only contribute to the quality of the cultural life but also stand to benefit the community's economic life as well. The Commission provides a channel of communication between the village government and the business owners, students, teachers, artists, and residents motivated by interest in the visual and performing arts. The Art and Culture Commission was established by the village board to enrich the lives of the village's residents and visitors by cultivating and promoting the appreciation of the Village's heritage through public arts projects.

Environmental Advisory Commission: The Village environmental advisory commission shall serve in an advisory capacity only. The commission's charge is to review, research, weigh and advise the village board and citizens of the village on environmental concerns and impact and make recommendations on such. The commission shall cooperate with, and provide a channel of communication, with county, state, and federal environmental agencies. The commission shall provide information and education for the entire community on environmental concerns. The commission shall provide a channel of communication between village government, private industry, and commercial enterprises in the village area. The commission shall promote environmental awareness as concerns including, but not limited to, aesthetics, beautification, safety and protection, pollution prevention, waste minimization, recycling, etc.

Historic Preservation Commission: In 2001, the Village Board created a Historic District which encompasses the downtown commercial district and adjacent residential areas including four blocks of Singer Avenue. The Historic Preservation Commission is an appointed seven-member body that meets monthly to review applications and conduct public hearings for Certificates of Appropriateness for exterior alterations to buildings in the district.

Liquor Control Review Board: The Liquor Control Review Board is an advisory body of three appointed members. The Commission reviews applications for retail liquor licenses and makes recommendations to the Liquor Commissioner pursuant to standards established in the Alcoholic Beverages Ordinance as published in the Lemont Municipal Code. The Commission may also conduct hearings for violations of the Alcoholic Beverages Ordinance.

Planning and Zoning Commission: The Planning & Zoning Commission (PZC) is a seven-member board. The PZC conducts reviews and makes recommendations to the Village Board of Trustees about proposed zoning actions and various planning documents. The Commission's responsibilities include review of the following application types: variations, special uses, planned unit developments, zoning map amendments, annexations, subdivisions, and text amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance.

Police Commission: The Police Commission is a body of three appointed members. The Commission is actively involved in the advertising and hiring of new Police officers, including testing procedures, review of applications and establishing an eligibility list. The Commission may also arbitrate police matters.

Police Pension Fund Board: The Police Pension Board is a body of five members; two appointed by the Village President, two elected by the active members of the regular police force, and one elected by the beneficiaries of the pension fund. The Pension Board meets at least quarterly and is actively involved in investment and administration of the Police Pension Fund. The Police Oο¬cer Pension Board manages, invests, and controls the Police Pension Fund and all monies pertaining thereto in accordance with statute. The board manages the assets of the fund, accepts members into the fund, and approves regular and disability pensions.
